Heart of Stone

He built his dreams with fire and steel,   Through sweat and pain, through grit and will.   His path was carved with silent nights,   A war he waged beyond the sights.   But love, so sweet, so soft, so near,   Whispered dreams into his ear.   A choice was placed upon his chest—   His passion’s flame, or love’s request.   He turned away from burning light,   Held her close, embraced the night.   Yet soon he found, to his dismay,   Both love and purpose slipped away.   For goals demand a heart of stone,   And love still longs to call its own.   To chase one means to lose the fight,   To hold both tight is rarest might.   So walk the road with eyes aware,   Choose with wisdom, choose with care.   For once you drop what makes you whole,   You lose the fire—and lose your soul.

Silent Heartbreak

I gave you my heart in quiet tones,
Laid bare my soul, the parts unknown.
To you, I was a fleeting glance,
But to me, you were my every chance.

I stretched myself in hopes you'd see,
The depth of what you meant to me.
But you, it seems, could never tell—
To you, I was a wishing well.

I meant nothing, though you meant all,
In silence, I began to fall.
I thought that love was meant to grow,
But it’s not love if it’s solo.

I wait for words you'll never speak,
For a warmth I'll never feel or seek.
And in the ache, I start to learn,
Not every flame will brightly burn.

So now I stand, but I stand alone,
In a space where love had never grown.
I’ll mend this heart you never knew,
And find my worth outside of you.
