Heart of Stone

He built his dreams with fire and steel,   Through sweat and pain, through grit and will.   His path was carved with silent nights,   A war he waged beyond the sights.   But love, so sweet, so soft, so near,   Whispered dreams into his ear.   A choice was placed upon his chest—   His passion’s flame, or love’s request.   He turned away from burning light,   Held her close, embraced the night.   Yet soon he found, to his dismay,   Both love and purpose slipped away.   For goals demand a heart of stone,   And love still longs to call its own.   To chase one means to lose the fight,   To hold both tight is rarest might.   So walk the road with eyes aware,   Choose with wisdom, choose with care.   For once you drop what makes you whole,   You lose the fire—and lose your soul.

Consequences

Empty space beside the bed,
A chasm where her warmth once bled.
Love's embers, cold, a fading spark,
The consequence of choices stark.

Couldn't hold her, couldn't keep,
The dreams we built, lay fallen deep.
Her leaving, though a searing pain,
A truth I see, a bitter gain.

For love can't thrive on fragile ground,
Where empty pockets can't be bound.
She chose to leave, a path set free,
And that, my heart, is liberty.

But freedom's sting, a lonely song,
Haunted by whispers, right and wrong.
Free will, a double-edged blade's sway,
My choices built the walls this day.

No grand redemption, heaven's hand,
Only strength to face the barren sand.
The weight of choices, mine to bear,
A consequence, a truth to share.

So I sit here, with lessons learned,
A future forged, a path discerned.
The road ahead is mine to mend,
Alone, perhaps, but I transcend.
